...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM EDT TUESDAY FOR
SOUTHEASTERN ESSEX, HUDSON, EASTERN UNION, KINGS (BROOKLYN), NEW
YORK (MANHATTAN), QUEENS AND RICHMOND (STATEN ISLAND) COUNTIES...

At 1114 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain
have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 0.75 to 1.5 inches in 1
hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in
the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Newark, Jersey City, Elizabeth, Flatbush, Flushing, Bayonne,
Hoboken, Coney Island, Secaucus, Harrison, Todt Hill, Crown
Heights, The Verrazano Narrows Bridge, Midtown Manhattan, RFK
Bridge, Jackson Heights, Forest Hills, Canarsie, Bay Ridge and
Astoria.

This includes the following Event Locations...
Brooklyn Bridge Park, Sports Illustrated Stadium and USTA Billie

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

possible.

* WHERE...Portions of northeast New Jersey, including the following
areas, Eastern Bergen, Eastern Essex, Eastern Passaic, Eastern
Union, Hudson, Western Bergen, Western Essex, Western Passaic and
Western Union and southeast New York, including the following
areas, Bronx, Kings (Brooklyn), New York (Manhattan), Northern
Queens, Richmond (Staten Island) and Southern Queens.

* WHEN...Until 6 AM EDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Scattered heavy downpours and thunderstorms will produce
rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour into the overnight.
This will present a threat for scattered instances of urban,
poor drainage, and quick responding small river and stream
flash flooding, particularly over areas that saw heavy rain
this afternoon.

After a brief respite in the rain late tonight into Tuesday
morning, additional moderate to locally heavy rainfall on
Tuesday may present a localized flash flood threat.

* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northeast New Jersey, including the following
counties, Bergen, Essex, Hudson and Union and southeast New York,
including the following counties, Bronx, Kings (Brooklyn), Nassau,
New York (Manhattan), Queens and Richmond (Staten Island).

* WHEN...Until 1145 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is
imminent.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 946 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. This will
cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 1 and 2 inches
of rain have fallen from earlier showers and thunderstorms.
- Additional rainfall amounts of around 0.5 to 1 inch are
expected over the area. This additional rain will result in
minor flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Newark, Jersey City, Jamaica, Elizabeth, Flatbush, Flushing,
Bayonne, Mott Haven, Hoboken, Plainfield, Bloomfield, Linden,
Orange, Coney Island, Summit, Lyndhurst, Millburn,
